Sunrisers Hyderabad
On track to become the best New Zealand batsman ever, according to Martin Crowe, the current best New Zealand batsman ever. Brendon McCullum, his captain, said he wouldn't want anyone else at No. 3. Williamson is as orthodox as they come but has adapted to thrive in the shorter formats as well. He has a century in T20s already, and averages 68.55, the best among the top-five run-scorers in ODIs since January 2014. His productivity will be important to Sunrisers Hyderabad, who don't have the best local batting talent.
Trent Boult
Price: Rs 3.8 crore (US$ 633,000)
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Alarming swing, unerring accuracy and a knack for picking wickets make him an ideal strike bowler. The downside though is that he hasn't quite mastered the white ball as well as the red one yet. With Sunrisers drawing their firepower from overseas batsmen, Dale Steyn being a certain pick and a decent stock of local fast bowlers, Boult might appear excess.
Gurinder Sandhu
Price: Rs 1.7 crore (US$ 2,83,000)
Delhi Daredevils
One of the horde of promising Australia fast bowlers, Sandhu made his international debut last month, picking up a wicket off his eighth ball in ODIs. He won the Steve Waugh Medal for the best New South Wales cricketer at age 19. Tall and broad-shouldered, his ability to extract awkward bounce is a useful commodity. It is likely that he will have to jostle for the fourth overseas players' spot with Western Australia quick Nathan Coulter-Nile and South Africa allrounder Albie Morkel.
David Wiese
Price: Rs 2.8 crore (US$ 466,000)
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Maybe an unknown quantity for the Indian audience, but there is reason behind Royal Challengers Bangalore shelling Rs 2.8 crore for this big-hitting South African allrounder. He has played 77 T20 games and has a strike rate of 160.25 and has picked up 52 wickets in as many games at an economy of 7.88. But with Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Mitchell Starc sure to start, the number of matches he gets is likely to be limited.
Adam Milne
Price: Rs 70 lakh (US$ 116,000)
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Arguably the fastest bowler in the world at the moment. At 22, Milne may not have the experience but his ability to regularly hit 145 kph and above have seen him muscle into New Zealand's World Cup squad. Milne's T20 performances may not be the best but for Rs 70 lakhs, he's a good buy. Milne will also have to fight for the fourth overseas with Darren Sammy, Wiese and Sean Abbott.
