The Duckworth-Lewis method is likely to replace the VJD system to work out targets in shortened one-day games in the 2006-07 Indian domestic season. This was among a host of recommendations suggested by the technical committee of the Indian board, which met under the chairmanship of Sunil Gavaskar.
The committee also recommended that the supersub rule be removed for domestic competitions as the ICC had also decided to do away with it for one-day internationals. In keeping with the international norms, the power plays will be introduced next season. The committee suggested that most one-day matches be played under lights with coloured clothing and the white ball. It also asked for a monitoring system of pitches and outfields which was in keeping with the ICC norms.
Apart from Gavaskar, the committee also included Niranjan Shah, the BCCI secretary, Kiran More, the chairman of selectors, Lal Chand Rajput, SK Bansal, MP Pandove and DP Azad. &
