Macky Dudhia has stepped down as the Bangladesh board's chief executive after two years at the helm.
Dudhia, who took over the post shortly before the 2003 World Cup in South Africa, said that leaving Bangladesh was a big wrench. "It was a wonderful experience for me to work with Bangladesh cricket," he told a press conference in Dhaka. "I'm not a fool to say I have done everything that was needed to give the board a professional outlook. But I'm leaving with the satisfaction that I have put things in order from where one can only look forward."
Dudhia, a Zimbabwean, returns to Harare but is unlikely to remain in the country long. He has two children at university in Cape Town and is expected to move there.
"I have only two regrets," he concluded. "Not completing a four day long national league project named Bank Cup besides missing the cricket loving people here."
Dudhia did face a final grilling over the board's accounts in general, and accusations of overspending in particular. "Let me ask you if an organisation is earning US$5 million apart from those big bills from the ICC and spending only five percent as establishment expenditure, is it over-spending?" he countered.
The BCB are likely to ditch the role of CEO - one which was a condition imposed on the board by the ICC - and replace the position with that of an administrative officer.
