East Asia-Pacific: EAP Advisory Committee to give region a collective voice

The East Asia-Pacific region is to have its own regional body.

The biennial meeting of the ICC's East Asia-Pacific Development Conference in late January approved the establishment of an informal committee intended to advise on and represent the interests of its various countries.

The East Asia-Pacific Cricket Advisory Committee will meet at the EA-P Development Conference, and possibly every other year if needed. Additionally the four members of the Committee would continue to liase as issues arose.

The Committee is structured so a representative of both of the region's Full Members, Australia and New Zealand, the region's Associate members and the region's Affiliate members each have one vote.

The four representatives on the committee are:

Mr. Robertson will act as Chairman on the Committee where all four members have equal say. Where all voting members are deadlocked, the Chairman has the casting vote. The Regional Development Manager is a non-voting member.

It is not intended at this stage that the Committee would be a formal entity similar to the Cricket Council of the Americas or the Asian Cricket Council, however the recommendation does not preclude the possibility in future should it be deemed appropriate.
