Eastern Province name their 2000/01 cricket squad.

Eastern Province Cricket Board named a home-grown cricket squad of 19 players for the 2000/2001 season, but said the captain would probably be announced only in August.

With Mark Rushmere retiring, EP could turn to stalwart Dave Callaghan, a former skipper himself, to lead a side that is boasting experience blended with youth.

Shafiek Abrahams and Meyrick Pringle are the other well-blooded players.

Newcomers are Umar Abrahams and Johan Botha, who are both still at school.

Although provinces are allowed only 17 contracted players, Mornantau Hayward is a United Cricket Board-contracted player while Kevin Duckworth will play on a pay-for-play basis.

All provinces have until the end of the month to submit to the UCBSA their lists of 17 contracted players.
