Alex Wakely and Billy Godleman laid the platform for England's 132-run defeat of Malaysia in the Under-19 Invitational triangular series at the Selangor Turf Club ground.
Wakely made 52 off 66 balls in 88 minutes, including six fours and a six, while Godleman eased to 49 runs off 71 balls. England scored an impressive 274 for 7 in their 50 overs, a total always beyond the home side who crawled to 142 for 9 in reply, but at least they managed to bat out their overs.
Glamorgan's Ben Wright, in his 27th U-19 ODI, took over the captaincy from the rested Greg Wood. England now meet Sri Lanka on Wednesday in a dress rehearsal for Saturday's final.
