Abandoned. The third of the five matches arranged between England and Australia was to have been played at Old Trafford, Manchester, on July 8, 9, 11, 12, but owing to the persistent bad weather the game had to be abandoned without a ball being bowled. The captains did not toss and neither team was announced. The England side would have been chosen form the following thirteen players: MR. W. R. Hammond, Mr. P. A. Gibb, H. Verity, L. Hutton, T. F. Smailes, E. Paynter, D. Compton, W. J. Edrich, M. S. Nichols, D. V. P. Wright, J. Hardstaff , C. J. Barnett and T. W. Goddard.
