ENGLAND v AUSTRALIA 1979-80
At Sydney, January 14
At Sydney, January 14. England won by two wickets. Playing his first match for England, Stevenson, the Yorkshire all-rounder, sparked a remarkable Australian collapse which saw their last seven wickets fall for only 15 runs. He took four of the wickets and claimed a fifth with a direct throw for a run out. Stevenson then completed a fine all-round performance by hitting the winning run after joining Bairstow when eight wickets had fallen and his side were still 35 runs away from victory with six overs left.
