England v New Zealand, 2013
Wisden's review of the second Twenty20 International, England vs New Zealand, 2013
At The Oval, June 27 (floodlit). No result. Toss: New Zealand.
Rain set in for good after just two deliveries, the second of which Lumb edged to second slip. The
weather derailed Pietersen's England comeback from a knee injury, and meant a brief introduction
to international captaincy for Tredwell, the replacement for Morgan (himself a stand-in for the rested
Broad), who had injured his hand in the first game. Tredwell's only act was to lose the toss. The
match equalled the record for the shortest international in which any play was possible, after the
India-Sri Lanka group game in the 1992 World Cup, at Mackay in Queensland.
