Episode Twelve - Squat Rows
With most of the more functional exercises we will look at total body exercises where more than one muscle group is involved. Very similar to what happens on the playing field. The squat row is an effective total body exercises not just for functional strength but also for maintaining strength throughout your season. Here we have an exercise that incorporates two major movements -- a squat and a standing cable row. This exercise movement is safe as there is no weight carried on the shoulders but it still allows you to squat against resistance and it also allows you to do a full squat with a fairly low risk of injury. It is also one of those exercises where you can go heavier in terms of resistance. Also remember that you can use elastics as a replacement for the cable and bring a muscle endurance component into it.
