Hampshire's second eleven scraped to their fourth straight One Day Trophy victory by the skin of their teeth against Glamorgan on Friday.
Needing ten runs off the final over of the rain reduced fixture, it was the cool heads of Calmore's all-rounder James Hibberd (22no), and number eleven James Tomlinson (11no) that saw them home, with just one wicket remaining.
Hampshire had a huge slice of luck with four runs required from the last two balls, as the young Welsh seamer over-stepped for a no-ball, providing two extra runs and a free-hit, which Hibberd happily belted for the winning runs.
An earlier rain delay had truncated the game to 36 overs per side, at the idyllic Panteg ground, and Hampshire kept the home team down to 178/8 from their allotted overs.
Ian Thomas and Darren Cherry got Glamorgan off to a good start, taking the score to 86 without loss before James Hamblin made the first breakthrough.
Hamblin bowled a fine spell, picking up 4/32 which dragged back the run rate and kept the home team down to an attainable score.
It could have been even better for Hampshire, but several lusty blows and edges in the final overs added vital runs for the Welshmen.
The young Hawks reply stuttered forward, with Hamblin and Jimmy Adams falling early, and the regular loss of wickets keeping them out of striking range.
There were some excellent contributions from John Francis (38), Greg Lamb (28) and Chris Benham (28), but as each of these got out the game got tighter and tighter.
However, Hibberd and Tomlinson's last wicket stand brought a great win and keeps Hampshire well in the hunt for a semi-final berth.
