It emerged that one of the shareholders was an associate of Shashi Tharoor, a minister in the central government. What followed was a public spat between Modi and Tharoor, the franchise complaining to the BCCI, and the board president, Shashank Manohar, writing a letter to Modi pulling him up for his action.
