'Funk', as he is well known, was quietly delighted with his day's work in passing fifty Test wickets and becoming the first Australian off spinner to take ten wickets in a match since Greg Matthews achieved the feat in the famous Tied Test of 1986 in Madras.
Miller, who picked up the scalp of Brian Lara in both innings, said that getting him out today was the centrepiece of a successful six hours for Australia.
"Getting Lara was the key as he scores very quickly. It was good to get him as early as we did. It was a real turning point for us," said the chuffed thirty-six year old.
Miller enjoyed bowling to the surfeit of left handers in the West Indian batting line-up and explained that he had a fairly basic plan.
"When bowling to the left handers, you don't want to turn every ball; you really only need to turn one or two balls an over and throw in the odd straighter one."
Miller might well have had even better figures than 5/32 if Umpire Venkatraghavan had upheld an imploring appeal prior to lunch. When asked about the caught behind non-decision, Miller played a dead bat.
"I thought I had a wicket, Venkat didn't think I had a wicket, not a lot was said other than the normal banter that occurs in that situation."
In the end, the journeyman - who is in his fifteenth Test - proceeded to put the incident well enough behind him, going on to secure match figures of 10/113 with a wily display of spin bowling.
