The BCCI has cleared Sourav Ganguly for the third Test against Pakistan at Rawalpindi. Jagmohan Dalmiya made this announcement after the Board's doctor declared him fit: "Dr Anant Joshi has cleared Sourav, making him eligible for the third Test in Rawalpindi."
Dr Joshi expressed his satisfaction over Ganguly's fitness after going through his medical reports, MRI scans and a report from Andrew Leipus, the team physio. Ganguly will now join the team in Lahore on Wednesday.
Ganguly, after a round of stretching exercises, was confident of playing at Rawalpindi. "Just wait and see, I'm confident of playing the third Test," he told The Telegraph.
"I have faced no problem in going through the weight training programme and stretching exercises as prescribed by the doctor. I am absolutely okay and in no discomfort."
Earlier, Dr Kalyan Mukherjee, Ganguly's personal doctor, had pronounced him fit in Kolkata. "Sourav's father came to me in the morning [on Tuesday] and I handed him the fitness certificate. He is medically fit and has no problems. He has also gone through a series of fitness regimes and has shown no signs of discomfort and so can be called physically fit too."
