Sourav Ganguly, who has missed out on the TVS Series so far, has been ruled out of games until November 6, his surgeon said.
Ganguly had surgery for an abcess on his left thigh - out of which, he said at one point, "blood was oozing like water" - and is on a course of antibiotics. One of the seven stitches on the wound has been removed, and the other six - including two deep ones, will be removed in a phased manner.
"He cannot play the November 6 match. The wound is healing, but since it is a big wound it will take some time to heal," Mrinmoy Nandy, the surgeon, said. "We don't want to rush things."
Ganguly's condition will be reviewed by a six-member medical board on Sunday. "By Tuesday we'll be able to say whether he would be available for the Bangalore tie," Nandy said.
