Garner has been in the post for two and a half years but now seems on the verge of quitting.

Garner is understood to be unhappy at recent decisions taken by the board, including the appointment of 38-year-old Richie Richardson as captain of the West Indies B team for the forthcoming Busta Cup competition.

"The time is fast approaching when I shall have to tell West Indies cricket goodbye," the Barbados Advocate quoted Garner as saying.

Garner, 48, was part of one of the most feared bowling attacks in Test history and took 259 wickets in 58 matches.
