Kirsten Fined 10% of Match Fee
Gary Kirsten of South Africa has been fined 10% of his match fee for the KCA Four Nations Tournament final.
Kirsten, man-of-the-match in the final, contravened ICC regulation 2.29 by wearing a coloured headband rather than a white one as allowed by the regulations.
Kirsten habitually wears a bandana in the colours of the South African flag under his helmet. During his innings of 118 not out in the final he changed his helmet for a cap but continued to wear the bandana. He later reverted to the helmet when Waqar Younis bowled his second spell and walked off of the field at the end of the match with helmet in hand and the apparently offensive bandana still on his head.
