After Mr Thabo Moseki's resignation in September last year the board decided not to appoint anyone in the position until the end of the Cricket World Cup, appointing Mr Kourie as the Acting CEO at the time.

"The GCB is honoured to have a person with the skills and leadership ability of Mr Alan Kourie" said Mahomed Jajbhay the Chairman of the GCB. He also said that Alan Kourie has been largely instrumental in securing the best World Cup Final ever at the Wanderers Stadium.

Mr Alan Kourie is an ex-Transvaal (Mean Machine) player and South African all rounder from the 70's and 80's, and has also played baseball for South Africa. He has extensive knowledge of cricket and brilliant business skills which can only be beneficial to the GCB.

The GCB look forward to the season ahead with Mr Alan Kourie leading the way.
