Ashley Giles's electrifying start to the domestic season continued as he took 6 for 91 to lift Warwickshire to a seven-wicket victory against Middlesex at Edgbaston. A superb double-century from Ian Bell had carried Warwickshire into a commanding position, before Giles's devastating spell rocked Middlesex. The in-form Ed Joyce top-scored for Middlesex with 63. But Bell was also again on song for Warwickshire, striking an unbeaten 47 as his team wasted no time in knocking off their target of 115 for the loss of just three wickets.
Surrey 248 (Ramprakash 107) and 178 for 5 (Ramprakash 68*) defeated Glamorgan 250 and 173 (Wallace 55, Ormond 7-63) by five wickets

Mark Ramprakash eased Surrey to their first Championship victory of the season, as they defeated Glamorgan by five wickets at Sophia Gardens. They resumed the final morning needing just 54 runs, and the in-form Ramprakash moved to an unbeaten 68 - adding to his first-innings 107 - to take them home in style. Ramprakash has now scored 327 in his three Championship innings this season, with an average of 163.5. A destructive career-best performance from James Ormond, who ran through Glamorgan with 7 for 63, also helped Surrey.
Nottinghamshire 509 for 8 dec (Gallian 199, Fleming 111, Hussey 89) and 30 for 0 defeated Sussex 379 and 159 (Sidebottom 4-15)

Ryan Sidebottom took 4 for 15 to help Nottinghamshire complete a convincing ten-wicket victory against Sussex at Trent Bridge. After Notts piled up 509 in their first innings, a lead of 130, Sidebottom reduced Sussex to 159, leaving Notts to chase just 30. Darren Bicknell and Jason Gallian needed just 29 balls of their second innings to knock off the runs.

Matthew Walker and Darren Stevens each struck half-centuries for Kent on the final day as their match with Gloucestershire at Bristol ended in stalemate. Gloucestershire resumed on 208 for 7, 151 runs behind, and lost their final three wickets for 40 runs. Kent rattled up 229 for 5 in reply, with Walker striking 56 and Stevens 54, as the match petered out into an inevitable draw.
