After coming through the second XI match Giles is now set to play for Warwickshire in the National League, against Leicestershire at Edgbaston, on Sunday. Giles suffered his injury during the Championship match against Sussex, at Hove, on May 10 and has found his slow recovery very frustrating.
"The days and weeks have been flying by quickly and I've not been playing any cricket." Giles told the Press Association, "It seemed that for quite a while I wasn't making any progress but recovering from injuries can sometimes be a slow process. You can only be patient.
"I would love to get some international cricket before the Ashes starts. That would be ideal but nothing is set in stone. It is a case feeling my way back into things and the idea is probably for me to play for Warwickshire on Sunday.
Michael Vaughan is also hoping Giles will be able to play some part in the NatWest Series but has stressed that he should not rush back, as his long-term fitness is more important to England.
Vaughan said: "We would welcome Gilo back - the sooner the better - but he's got to make sure he gets fit. The Ashes are more important than the one-day series but Gilo needs to be back playing with us. He is a huge part of the team."
