2005-06 HKCA Sunday Cup Final

Wet weather played its part in the Sunday Cup Final with Templars winning the toss and electing to bowl. An inspired spell of bowling from Khuram Shahzad left the Scorpions batting line-iup in tatters as they slumped to 5-26. But some valuable middle order knocks from Toby Brown, Nick Gavin-Brown and Simon Laveau lifted them to a total of 144 from 41.4 overs. Shahzad finished with 4-27 from his nine overs.

Heavy rain during the lunch break saw a delay to the resumption and a revised total for Templars to chase. A target of 97 from 30 overs was later reduced to 84 from 26 overs after a second interruption.

Ryan Eagleson and Gopal Lalchandani bowled well in tandem - with Lalchandani's slow off-breaks proving the ideal foil to Eagleson's pace attack. Each claimed five wickets as Templars were routed for 82 in the 21st over for Scorpions to claim a famous vcitory. Jamie Atkinson and TR Kalyanaraman were the only Templars batsmen to reach double figures as Eagleson finished with 5-30 while sexagenarian Lalchandani claimed 5-27.
