Speaking to the Sunday Express, Graveney referred to the use of such equipment in the investigations into the problems of Singapore's football leagues. "We have to keep an open mind about anything which might help restore the credibility of cricket," he said.

"It is something I will broach with Sir Paul Condon (the head of international cricket's Anti-Corruption Unit) when we next speak. As a former police officer, he will know how valuable lie detectors might be in this situation.

"We should certainly monitor what happens in the Singapore case."
