The 2003 season proved a successful one for the Hampshire Academy side in it's first premiership season
The 2003 season proved a successful one for the Hampshire Academy side in it's first premiership season. Winning the 'Timed Pennant' was testament to all the hard work and commitment shown throughout the year.
After some tough early games we were shown just how competitive the league would be by a very professional and talented BAT Sports side. Having been comprehensively beaten by 9 wickets the team turned around their season and many showed the character and quality necessary to go to the next step.
From this low the Academy performed exceptionally well against some strong sides. The highlight of the season being wins away from home against Havant, BAT and Bashley (Rydal).
For a young side many showed the ability to learn from their mistakes and in doing so developed significabtly as players over the season.
The Academy was formed to develop and prepare young cricketers for the next levels. This year Kevin Latouf and Tom Burrows have been rewarded with senior contracts for 2004.
