Batting first the young Hawks were indebted to a second wicket partnership of 91 between MCC Groundstaffer Morgan Rushbrook (57) and former U19 all-rounder Laurie Prittipaul (81), drafted in specially for this game after the departure of Martin Bushell from the Academy set up. The young Hawks used their full allocation of 66 overs, finishing on 217-8.

After a solid start, Bounemouth collapsed from 39-0 to 69-5 thanks to good bowling from Rushbrook (2-32), David Griffiths (2-19) and Prittipaul (1-17). Any hopes of a tail-end recovery were quashed by Charlie van der Gucht (2-24) and Kevin Latouf (2-5), as the Academy completed a convincing win by 83 runs. The young Hawks" ability to learn so quickly in defeat must have greatly pleased Team Manager Tony Middleton.

The Academy now move up to fifth place in the table.
