A hamstring injury is set to keep young Queensland off-spinner Nathan Hauritz on the sidelines for up to three weeks.
A hamstring injury is set to keep young Queensland off-spinner Nathan Hauritz on the sidelines for up to three weeks.
The 22-year-old strained his left hamstring while batting during the Bulls' eight wicket loss to Victoria in the ING Cup clash at the Gabba last night.
Hauritz clutched his upper thigh while going for a second run in the 46th over of the Bulls' innings.
The 2003 Australian World Cup squad member made 39 not out with the aide of a runner but played no further part in the game.
He has been ruled out of the Pura Cup game against Victoria at the Gabba which starts tomorrow and was replaced by 21-year-old off-spinning all-rounder Chris Simpson.
Hauritz is also in serious doubt for the Pura Cup match against Victoria at Junction Oval which starts on November 11 and could be struggling to be fit the Gabba clash against Tasmania on November 20.
Queensland allrounder Lee Carseldine suffered a reccurrence of his back injury while fielding and is unlikely to bowl in the four-day game against the Bushrangers.
Hauritz is the latest Australian contracted bowler to be hit with injury with Glenn McGrath (ankle), Brett Lee (abdominal), Jason Gillespie (side strain), Stuart MacGill (calf) and Ashley Noffke (back) already out.
Leg spinner Shane Warne is serving a 12 month suspension.
Last night the Bushrangers were set 236 runs by Queensland, thanks to some late big hitting by Bulls wicketkeeper Wade Seccombe and Hauritz.
But Matthew Elliott (117) and Brad Hodge (107) guided the Bushrangers to victory with 56 balls to spare.
