Matthew Hayden may miss the fourth one-dayer, after aggravating a knee injury during Australia's five-wicket win against Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

Hayden, who injured the knee during the recent Test series against India, aggravated the injury when he fell heavily in the outfield. He left the field for treatment but returned to open the innings, and was out for only 3.

"He's in a little bit of trouble," Ricky Ponting told reporters after Wednesday's game. "He was in a bit of discomfort batting, so we'll have to see how it pulls up."

However, team physio Alex Kontouri was more upbeat about Hayden's chances after a day of intense rehabilitation work on Thursday. "Yesterday [Wednesday] I was not so confident but it is much better today."

If Hayden is ruled out, Australia could bring in Simon Katich for his first game of the tour. Katich would also provide Ricky Ponting with an extra bowling option on a re-used pitch that is expected to turn.

Sri Lanka are likely to draft in Saman Jayantha, the hard-hitting opener, who would be making his one-day debut. Jayantha is almost certain to replace Russel Arnold, who has not passed 10 in the last two games.
