Jacques Rudolph continued his remarkable run of good scores as Yorkshire gained a hard-earned victory over the Netherlands at Headingley to make it four consecutive wins in Group B of the Clydesdale Bank 40. Chasing a target of 201, Yorkshire got there by four wickets with just three balls to spare, Rudolph leading the way with an unbeaten 83 to go alongside his previous scores in the competition of 101 not out, 83 and 26.

A second-wicket partnership of 155 between Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell guided Warwickshire to a seven-wicket win over Hampshire at the Rose Bowl. The pair dominated a tame Hampshire bowling attack as they reached their target of 212 with more than four overs to spare, condemning the Royals to a third consecutive Clydesdale Bank 40 defeat, and extending Warwickshire's winning start to the competition.

Middlesex suffered their first defeat of the Clydesdale Bank 40 campaign after an error-strewn run chase against Group B rivals Gloucestershire under the floodlights at Lord's saw them go down with 51 balls to spare. The Panthers never recovered from a miserable start to their pursuit of 247 and were quickly dismissed for 169 to lose by 77 runs as Anthony Ireland bagged 3 for 36 and Steve Kirby and Vikram Banerjee took two wickets apiece.
