Debbie Hockley has been named the captain of the New Zealand women's cricket team for this summer, replacing Maia Lewis, who will miss the entire season. Hockley will lead the New Zealand side into three one-day internationals against South Africa and the Shell Rosebowl series encompassing three one-day internationals against arch-rivals Australia. Both series are in New Zealand during February. Lewis, who has been captain for the past two years, will undergo a knee reconstruction operation and will miss the remainder of the season.
