Hoggard fined 20 per cent of match fee for Code of Conduct breach

England's Matthew Hoggard has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during his country's first Test against Pakistan in Multan.

Additionally the Pakistan side has been fined for falling two overs short of the minimum number required to be bowled in the time available.

Mr Hoggard was reported for excessive appealing by the two on-field umpires, Simon Taufel and Billy Bowden, and third umpire Asad Rauf, as he celebrated the dismissal of Pakistan opening batsman Salman Butt on Tuesday.

Mr Hoggard was found guilty at a hearing conducted by ICC Match Referee Roshan Mahanama following the conclusion of the Test. The hearing was attended by these two, the three above-mentioned umpires and England coach Duncan Fletcher.

All Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent fine of a player's match fee.

For Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct the ICC Match Referee's decision is final and binding.

Each Pakistan player was fined 10 per cent of their respective match fees for their failure to bowl the proscribed number of overs, with the captain Inzamam-ul-Haq fined double that amount as captain.

This punishment is in accordance with section J 5 c i covering minimum over rates.
