Hong Kong invited to quadrangular tournament in Papua New Guinea

The Hong Kong national team will travel to Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea to play in the Air Niugini International Super Series from 1-5 September 2010. Hong Kong will play against teams from Singapore, Malaysia and hosts Papua New Guinea.

The quadrangular event, which is being hosted by Cricket PNG, will feature both 50-over matches and Twenty20 matches.

Hong Kong's proposed schedule for the tournament is as follows:

  • 1st Sept - Hong Kong v. Singapore (50 over match)
  • 2nd Sept - Hong Kong v. Malaysia (50 over match)
  • 3rd Sept - Hong Kong v. Papua New Guinea (50 over match)
  • 4th Sept - Hong Kong v. Malaysia (10AM start) (T20 match)
  • 4th Sept - Hong Kong v. Papua New Guinea (2PM start) (T20 match)
  • 5th Sept - Hong Kong v. Singapore (10AM start) (T20 match)
  • 5th Sept - T20 Bash Grand Final (2PM start)

The tournament will provide useful warm-up matches for the Asain Games to be played in Guangzhou in November. It will also provide the Hong Kong team with valuable mtch practice before the ICC World Cricket League Division 3 tournament that will be played in Hong Kong in January 2011, also featuring Papua New Guinea.
