Michael Hussey led from the front with a magnificent century, and Marcus North chipped in with a coruscating 79 as Pakistan's bowlers were put to the sword on the second day at the WACA in Perth. Ryan Campbell chipped in with a handy 49 as Western Australia romped to 404 for 9, allowing Justin Langer to declare just before the close. The Pakistanis batted for one over without loss before stumps and they now trail by 133 runs heading into the final day.

Western Australia added to their astonishing 143 runs in the 27 overs bowled after lunch, by reeling off 126 in the final session. After plundering 124, Mike Hussey fell to Shoaib Akhtar just after the tea break - but bright knocks from Campbell and Brett Dorey (21) maintained the momentum for the visitors.

Danish Kaneria and Abdul Razzaq provided breakthroughs in quick succession midway through the morning session, but with North in superb form and Hussey anchoring the innings, the deficit was eaten away in quick time. The tone for the day was set by Chris Rogers, who thumped seven fours in a belligerent 46 before being caught behind off Kaneria's bowling (2 for 83).

When Razzaq sent back Murray Goodwin for just 1, the tourists glimpsed an opening. But that was rudely shut by some enterprising strokeplay from North and Hussey, who savaged every bowler they faced with the exception of Shoaib Akhtar, who got through his 12 overs for just 30 runs.

North was finally caught behind off the bowling off Mohammad Sami, but by then, with Hussey having sauntered past 100 and his colleagues playing an admirable support act, Pakistan were on a hiding to nothing.
