Hussey extends contract at Notts

David Hussey has signed a new one-year contract with Nottinghamshire, which will be his fourth season at the club.
Hussey, 29, has made a deep impression for the county, with 15 centuries and 3751 runs in his three years with them, and he is determined to help them get back into the top flight. Hussey says that he feels the burden of responsibility as an overseas player, and admitted Notts were below par this year: "We have underachieved as a team this season."
He believes playing county cricket can help him copy his older brother Mike, in playing for Australia at last. "I still have a burning desire to play for Australia," said Hussey, who has represented Australia A, "and both I and Mick Newell believe that scoring runs for Notts will help me to do that."
Notts' director of cricket, Mick Newell, was understandably pleased that the prolific Hussey had agreed to stay at Trent Bridge. "He was outstanding in all forms of cricket in the second half of the season and has demonstrated over his time at Trent Bridge what a terrific player he is with the consistency and volume of runs he has scored."
