While Sri Lanka play their first meaningful match of the tour, India have the advantage that they have been in Australia for ages and are full of confidence after pushing the Aussies hard in the Test series.
The first match of the Commonwealth Bank Series was well balanced when the rains came and though they will need to bat better against Sri Lanka, India are still the ones most likely on paper, which makes bet365's prices pretty interesting.
The firm go 5/6 on either side winning, and though Sri Lanka were runners-up at the World Cup, I just think it will take them a bit of time to get used to the level of competition again=, making India pretty good value.
Sachin ready to shine
Sachin Tendulkar was in great form throughout the Test series and in one-day cricket, when he opens the batting, he is just as formidable a proposition for the bowlers.
Sachin averages 45 against Sri Lanka in one-dayers, just above his average, while seven of his 41 centuries have come against them. He is actually due a big score against Sri Lanka, so the 11/4 that he top-scores for his side is perhaps not as tight as it first looks.
If anyone is to outscore him with a big innings, then it's most likely to be Virender Sehwag, who can cut an attack to shreds in a matter of overs. Sehwag is 4/1, while Gautam Gambhir is 9/2 and Yuvraj Singh, fit again and with a point to prove, is 5/1.
For Sri Lanka, the brilliant Kumar Sangakkara is the 10/3 favourite, just ahead of his captain Mahela Jaywardene, at 7/2. Of the two, Sangakkara has the slightly better average against India, though there is not much in it.
Behind them, Sanath Jayasuriya, still a massive threat to any one-day bowling attack, is 4/1, Upul Tharanga is 5/1 and Chamara Silva is 11/2.
Sri Lanka have shown down the years that their unpredictability makes them as big a threat as anyone, but I just think they will struggle first time out, so India look value at 5/6.
