India, who last toured New Zealand in 2003 for the quadrangular World Series tournament, also involving Australia and England, will arrive on February 27 after playing a Test match and three ODIs in Australia.

"New Zealand Cricket is delighted to be hosting India this summer," said Catherine Campbell, the New Zealand women's cricket manager. "The White Ferns [New Zealand women's team] beat India in round-robin play of the World Cup only to lose to them in the semi-final so it promises to be an exciting series."

A New Zealand A team will also play two matches against the senior women's team and two matches against India in the lead up to the series. "The series will be the first step in building the team for the next World Cup," she continued. "Having a New Zealand A team involved gives us an opportunity to look at a group of players below the White Ferns as well as providing good preparation for both India and the White Ferns."
