Kapil Dev silent over BCCI's decision

Press Trust of India reported on Monday that the former Indian captain and current Indian coach Kapil Dev prefered to remain silent over the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) decision over his statement last week.

The agency said that Kapil Dev had refused to comment on the issue, saying that he was yet to be contacted by the Board or its President. Kapil Dev had earlier expressed his willingness to quit the game after the recent match fixing allegations against him.

The agency also reported that BCCI president AC Muthiah said after the working committee meeting in Bangalore on Sunday that the members deliberated at length over Kapil Dev's statements and authorised Muthiah to take any course of action.

Lancashire club management stand by Ganguly

The secretary and the official spokesman of the Lancashire County Cricket Club, Dave Edmondson on Monday said that there were on problems with Sourav Ganguly. Edmondson added that on the contrary the club was honoured to have him in their ranks.

Speaking to the Calcutta based The Telegraph, Bobby Simpson, the Lancashire team coach who recommended Ganguly's name, said that he was amazed that not a single reporter deemed it necessary to approach the team management on the issue. He added that one newspaper wrote something and the others joined the bandwagon.

Meanwhile Ganguly also denied reports that he and his wife would be acting in a Bengali film and requested that the reports should be treated as rubbish. He added that at the moment he has time only for the game and nothing else.
