India agrees to participate in Singapore tourney next year
The secretary of the Singapore Cricket Association, Anil Kalaver, said
on Saturday that India have confirmed participation in the Tri-Nation
series to be held in Singapore next year. He added that South Africa
have evinced interest in playing while the association is trying to
persuade Pakistan to take part in the tournament.
Speaking to presspersons during the International Cricket Council (ICC) Asian Development Programme for associate members meeting in Karachi, Kalavar said that India could not come to the event this year due to their own problems and that affected the event badly. He added that India must play Pakistan for the sake of cricket in Asia.
Kalavar said that Singapore will hold the three-nation event next year with improved facilities of lights and enhancement in other areas. He said that lights will be installed by March next year at a cost of 600,000 dollars which will make Singapore a venue of international standard.
Suchitra Sen Gupta elected Tripura Ranji team manager
The governing body of the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) met
recently to select the coaches and managers of the senior and junior
state teams for the forthcoming domestic season. The meeting decided
on Suchitra Sen Gupta, the Vice President of TCA and former State
Ranji Player Sanjib Paul as the manager and coach of the Tripura Ranji
Trophy team.
The following are the managers and coaches for the 2000-2001 season:
Under-14: Parta Bhatacharjee - manager and Joy Kishore Debburma - coach; Under-16: Ramabrata Sen - manager and Habul Bhattacharjee - coach; Under-19: Amar Sarkar - manager and Biswajit Paul - coach; Under-22: Shyamal Debburma - manager and former Tripura Ranji team captain Arup Debburma - coach.
Tripura CA fixtures for 2000-2001 season
The Tripura Cricket Association recently announced the schedule for
the 2000-2001 local season. According to the fixtures, the Jogeah
Chakraborthy Memorial Tournament for the State Ranji team selection is
slated to begin on October 11.
The schedule:
Super Division Bipul Kanti Majumdar Memorial tournament will start from the first week of December; A-Division Santosh Memorial League tournament will be played from the first week of December; Tapan Memorial Knock-out tournament will start from the first week of November; Under-13 tournament will be played from the last week of December; Under-15 tournament will be played from the last week of January; The Senior State tournament will start from the last week of February; Under-13 Inter school State tournament will start from the first week of March; The Under-16 Inter School Sub-Division tournament will be played from the middle of February and the Sub-Division tournament is slated to begin in November.
