I-T appraisal report on raids by next month
The Income-tax authorities, who conducted 'Operation Gentleman' on
July 20-21, are expecting to complete their 'appraisal report' by next
month. The raids were conducted on players, officials and bookies at
different locations all over the country. I-T sources said "the report
was being compiled after recording statements from all those raided,"
quotes PTI.
The sources said several top cricketers and bookies were questioned by the department's officials on the documents seized during the raids. On completion of the report, notices would be sent to individuals to file their block returns. The players, officials and bookies would also be given time to send in their reply. The sources added that "the taxmen would prepare the final assessment report and ask them to pay 60 percent of their undisclosed income."
Azharuddin in Hyderabad probables list
Former Indian captain Md Azharuddin, who has been sidelined for the
ICC KnockOut tournament, is in the list of 29 probables announced by
the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) from which the state side for
the Ranji Trophy will be picked. The players have to report to coach
Arshad Ayub at the camp which is to be held at the Gymkhana Grounds
from 6.30 am on October 4.

Kerala probables for Ranji, under-22 announced
The Kerala Cricket Association has announced the list of probables for
the Ranji Trophy and the under-22 team for the 2000-2001 season. S
Rajesh has been named the coach and C Balachandran the manager.

Kanga League: NCC, Victory CC claim Div 'A', Div 'B' title
The popular monsoon tournament in Mumbai, the Kanga League, which
initiates the start of a new season in Mumbai was won by the National
Cricket Club (NCC) on October 1. The club drew their final match
against CCI and ended with 30 points and topped the table, thereby
retaining the title. Replying to CCI's modest total of 218, NCC scored
56 for 1 and drew the match. In a close finish in Division B, Victory
CC who ended with 33 points were declared champions when they drew
with Khar Gymkhana. DPZ and Jolly CC ended with a point less.
The final standing in Division A: National CC - 30 points, SPG and MIG 27 points, Worli and SPY 26 points, New Hind, PJ Hindu Gym, Young Friends, Karnatak and Young Maharashtra 25 each, Dadar Union, 24 each, Parsee Gym, 22 and Islam Gymkhana 20.
Division B: Victory CC 33 points, DPZ and Jolly - 32 points, Khar Gymkhana 27 points, United Cricketers 26 points, United Friends and Fort Vijay 25 each, Khandala 24, Sassanian and Kandivali 23 points, MB Union 22, Sunder and Shantibhai 21 each.
