Prabhakar's lawyer to reply to CBI on lie test

Former Indian allrounder Manoj Prabhakar said in New Delhi on Thursday that he would let his lawyers reply to the suggestion made by the Central Bureau of Investigation that Prabhakar undergoes a lie detector test.

Quoting Prabhakar, Press Trust of India (PTI) said that his lawyers would reply to the CBI in a day or two. The report also said that the investigative agency would be conducting the test only after receiving Prabhakar's consent.

PTI reported that the agency, during the course of the investigation, found that almost all the persons who had been named by Prabhakar as witnesses had not corroborated with his statement, which prompted the agency to suggest that Prabhakar should undergo the test.

Tamil Nadu and Andhra teams for Cooch Behar Trophy

Vidyuth Sivaramakrishnan and Venu Gopal Rao are to lead the Tamil Nadu and Andhra Under-19 teams for the Cooch Behar Trophy, which commences from September 20. While Tamil Nadu Cricket Association have named a sixteen member squad for the national junior level competition, Andhra CA has named a thirteen member team along with seven standbyes. Tamil Nadu take on Kerala while Andhra play Hyderabad in their first games.

Dravid and Ganguly among the runs

Rain prevented any possibility of play on the second day of the PPP Healthcare County Championship Division One match featuring Kent and Leicestershire at Grace Road in Leicester, while Surrey ended the day at 297 for nine against Lancashire at Old Trafford on Thursday.

Kent at the end of the first day's play were 228 for eight, thanks to a typically sedate 77 off 189 balls by Rahul Dravid. Dravid who came in at the fall of the wicket shared a 72-run third wicket stand with Ed Smith (40). Dravid hit 9 boundaries during his stay of 270 minute and was the fifth batsman to be dismissed. But after his fall Kent could not keep up the good work and struggled till stumps were drawn. Indian leg spinner Anil Kumble who represents Leicestershire, is not playing in this game.

Indian captain Sourav Ganguly (54) looked in good touch as he notched up yet another half century as Lancashire piled up 324 in their first innings on the first day. In reply Surrey are still trailing by 27 runs with a single wicket in hand as stumps were drawn on the second day.
