India to play triangular series in Bangladesh

India will play a triangular tournament in Bangladesh in November with the third country yet to be identified. Bangladesh Cricket Board sources said on Thursday that India have committed to take part in the tournament along with hosts Bangladesh.

The sources were quoted as saying that they are in touch with the other Test playing countries for their participation as the third team. The tournament is being organised as part of the celebration of Bangladesh attaining Test status.

Prasad to lead Karnataka on tour of Kenya

The Karnataka state team will tour Kenya to play six one-dayers and a four day match during a tour from July 27 to August 15. This was announced by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in a press release on Thursday.

Venkatesh Prasad is the captain. Javagal Srinath who last played in the Tests against South Africa early this year is included in the side.

The Karnataka team: B K Venkatesh Prasad (capt), Vijay Bharadwaj (vice-capt), Mithun Beerala, Rowland Barrington, V S Tilak Naidu, B Akhil, Sunil Joshi, D Ganesh, Javagal Srinath, Santosh Kumar Vadayraj, Mansoor Ali Khan, A Vijay, Sujith Somasundar and G N Umesh.

Zee TV's claims ridiculous: ICC chief

International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive David Richards has dismissed Zee TV's remarks of 'racial motives' on the awarding of television rights to World Sports Group (WSG) and News Corp as 'ridiculous.' In an interview to a TV programme, Richards said the decision to go with the WSG and News Corp was taken on commercial grounds.

On Zee TV's charge, Richards said ""I do not want to comment on Zee TV's ridiculous remarks, I think what we need to say very clearly is that the executive board took a decision on commercial grounds and commercial grounds only. He added "it is demonstrably untrue. It is an organisation made up of people from all over the world of cricket from different cultures and backgrounds".

Asked on the possibility of rival cricket tours involving the Asian countries, Richards said "there is no indication of anything like that coming through the boards that make up ICC - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and now Bangladesh." The reaction of Zee that the ICC decision to award telecast rights for the two World Cups was along racial lines came after they lost out in their bid.

CricInfo, Intel to organise coaching clinic

Cricket website CricInfo with Intel Corporation will be organising a cricket coaching event at the IIT Chemplast grounds from 9 am to 5 pm on Sunday. The coaching event is part of an online contest - "Waiting in the Wings." Former Indian cricketers - wicket keeper Bharath Reddy, paceman TA Sekhar, leg spinner L Sivaramakrishnan and opener WV Raman will participate in the workshop.

The online competition was held as part of the cricket carnival on the cricinfo.com website. Six budding cricketers who won the contest have been selected to participate in the live coaching clinic.
