The Pakistan Cricket Board informs that upon its revampment by its Patron-in-Chief (the President of Pakistan) recently and upon induction of Mr. Mujeeb ur Rehman Khan as the Chairman and Mr. Javed Zaman Khan as the Member of its Ad-Hoc Committee, Mr. Sarfraz Nawaz visited the Chairman at Islamabad and extended felicitations on his appointment. Similarly he extended his felicitations to Mr. Javed Zaman Khan also.
While congratulating Mr. Mujeeb ur Rehman, the former Test Cricketer had requested for an assignment at the PCB and insisted for his inclusion in the day to day affairs of the board.
Sarfraz Nawaz' request was deliberated but not considered by the Board and its officials which has lead to a deluge of statements by him desperately trying to seek the attention of the PCB and high echelons for himself.
It is observed that Sarfraz Nawaz is in the habit of criticizing the set up of the PCB....till the time he is accorded with some assignment whether honorary or otherwise.
In the interest of cricket and the forthcoming important matches of Pakistan at Canada, Sharjah and Australia, the PCB extends a cogent advice to Mr. Sarfraz Nawaz to desist from extending statements as his such action are essentially distorting the image of cricket in Pakistan and may pave grounds for the foreign media to extricate the large interest and support which the cricket fans and the cricket playing nations have for Pakistan and its Cricket Team.
The Pakistan Cricket Board also expresses its dismay on the continuous and unreasonable statements of Mr. Sarfraz Nawaz and reserves its right to deal with the matter legally if it so desires at any stage whereby it will be deemed that Mr. Sarfaraz Nawaz' such allegations and statements are not only hampering the smooth implementation of PCB's policies for the betterment of the game but are challenge to the decision of the Patron-in-Chief for revamping the PCB.
The Pakistan Cricket Board reaffirms its pledge for promoting good clean cricket both at domestic and international levels and requests all for their cogent support in smooth implementation of its plans in the process of being chalked-out for the new millennium essentially with a view to promote the image of Pakistan through this wonderful game.
The Pakistan Cricket Board also requests all the cricket enthusiasts to extend their good wishes to the Pakistan Cricket Team by supporting the PCB for invoking high moral of the team for a successful competition and laurels during the forthcoming important matches for regaining its lost glory and for creating an even better image of the Country.
