The Pakistanis, batting first, were dismissed for 95 in 45.2 overs.

Pakistan failed to capitalise on a 41-run opening partnership between Shaiza Khan (30) and Nazia Nazeer (17).

Catherine O'Neill (3/13) and Karen Young (3/7) were the main wicket-takers for Ireland.

The target of 96 was achieved by the Irish in just 20.5 overs and with the loss of one wicket, Catherine O'Leary (53*) and Caitriona Beggs (24*) sealing the win.

The second match in the series is played at the same ground today.

Ireland's Isobel Joyce is a sister of Ireland and Middlesex player Ed Joyce, and of Dominic and Gus Joyce, who are currently playing for Ireland in the European Championships in Scotland.
