'Its our duty to win this series,' says Wright
After failing to win the Test series, India is all set to face Pakistan tomorrow in the first one-day international at Kochi

"Pakistan are a good and balanced side and they are also fielding well, but the first two matches are going to be very important," Wright said to the media after the net practice at Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium. "Consistency in bowling and fielding, these are the areas we have to target. Playing consistently and fielding well will be a key area in backing up the bowler. Running between the wickets is also a key area. Little things like these are going to be the key."
Pakistan managed to level the Test series 1-1 with a 168-run win in Bangalore. Wright reflected on the disappointing performance by India and reckoned that India failed to seize the advantage throughout the series. "I see the Test series as one that got away. We failed to win from a strong position at Mohali and failed to save the match and the series in Bangalore after playing well to win in Kolkata. When you're expecting a victory and still don't get it, it leaves one with an empty feeling," Wright continued. "But perhaps we didn't deserve to win. It's our duty to win this series. But it is going to be tough."
Wright was also supportive of Sourav Ganguly, who is currently going through a batting slump. "Sourav doesn't need me to tell him that he is out of form. But maybe he needs me to get him back into form. What is the coach's role then when players are struggling? To deal with situations and individuals with honesty."
Wright also brushed aside rumors that he would quit from his position after the Pakistan series. "As I had said two months back, I am contractually obliged till the end of May and I am definitely here. I plan to continue till then. Whatever cricket is on till May, I will work as coach unless someone somewhere thinks otherwise."
