Jaggernauth rocks Windwards

Amit Jaggernauth's 7 for 65 had Windward Islands in all sorts of trouble against Trinidad & Tobago at Guaracara Park, as the visitors were bundled out for 154 and faced the prospect of an innings defeat. Windwards, following on, lost two second-innings wickets and ended the day still requiring 274 to make T&T to bat again.

Earlier, T&T took their score to 477 for nine declared, with Daren Ganga making 167. Ravi Rampaul and Jaggernauth added 50 for the ninth wicket before the declaration at the stroke of lunch.

Windwards stumbled early in their reply, losing Heron Campbell to seamer Richard Kelly in the first over. Jaggernauth then took over, striking in his second over as he made inroads into the middle and lower order. His wicket of Ronald Etienne was also his 100th in first-class cricket. At tea, Windwards were at 98 for 7 and some stubborn resistance from Kenroy Peters, unbeaten on 32, lifted the side to 154.

Dale Richards's 159 and another impressive bowling performance put Barbados in a commanding position against Jamaica at Chedwin Park. Richards propelled Barbados to 298 and Jamaica were in deep trouble at 81 for 5 in their second innings, still trailing by 85.

Richards struck 18 fours and two sixes in what was his second first-class century, leading Barbados' resistance as wickets tumbled around him. Tamar Lambert, the offspinner, was the most effective bowler for Jamaica, taking 4 for 44. Richards and Floyd Reifer were involved in an 80-run stand for the second wicket before Lambert struck, sending back Reifer for 32. After Barbados lost their way at 213 for 7, Richards and Tino Best added a valuable 61 before Nikita Miller finally dismissed Richards.

Jamaica were pegged back in their second innings when Pedro Collins dismissed Danza Hyatt, caught at first slip in the first over. Wavell Hinds was the next to go and Corey Collymore trapped Brenton Parchment leg before for 36. Barbados took two more wickets before bad light ended play early.

Thirteen wickets tumbled on the second day as Guyana were bowled out for 195, managing a narrow eight-run first innings lead against the Leeward Islands at Albion. Leewards lost three wickets in their second innings but staged a better batting performance compared to the first, ending at 149 for 3 with Sylvester Joseph unbeaten on 50.

Guyana lost their way after a solid opening stand of 67 between Sewnarine Chattergoon and Royston Crandon. Chattergoon was impressive in his knock of 57 and Guyana were in a good position at lunch, at 138 for 4. However, Chattergoon's dismissal brought Leewards back into the match as they claimed the last six wickets for just 61 runs. Seamer Kerry Jeremy and Lionel Barker took four wickets each to orchestrate the collapse.
