Javed Miandad has been given life membership of cricket's most famous and oldest club, England's Marylebone Cricket Club

Javed Miandad has been given life membership of cricket's most famous and oldest club, England's Marylebone Cricket Club. Miandad, Pakistan's highest Test runscorer and now coach of the national team, said: "I received a letter from MCC secretary Roger Knight telling me that the honour has been conferred on me."

He added: "It is a great honour for me and for my country and I have sent an acknowledgment to confirm that I am elated at accepting the honour."

MCC, which was founded in 1787, awards life membership to cricketers on merit and international repute. With around 22,000 members, MCC has given life membership to 39 cricketers, including six Pakistanis. Miandad played 124 Tests, scoring 8832 runs. He also played 233 one-day matches, accumulating 7381 runs.
