Johannesburg, Wednesday November 11th: West Indian batsman Jimmy Adams is flying home and will take no further part in his team's tour of South Africa.
Adams cut the little finger of his right hand with a bread knife during the team's flight from London to Johannesburg. This injury ruled him out of today's warm up match against a Gauteng XI in Soweto. A further examination of the wound revealed tendon damage, and the specialist who examined Adams has said that the wound will require at least 6 weeks to heal properly.
No replacement for Adams has been named.
