Cobb, Eckersley fined by police

Leicestershire say they will not be taking further action after two of their players were arrested following a fracas on a night out.

Josh Cobb, who is captain of Leicestershire's limited-overs side, and Ned Eckersley, who won the club's Player of the Year award, were arrested in the early hours of September 1 and fined for being drunk and disorderly.

"We have dealt with this matter internally and we will not be making any statement," Mike Siddall, the Leicestershire chief executive, told ESPNcricinfo. "It was a pretty trivial matter."

A police spokesman said: "Following an incident in Leicester city centre in the early hours of the morning on September 1, two young men aged 23 and 24 were arrested on public order offences. They were released on police bail pending further enquiries."

It is understood both Cobb and Eckersley are contemplating a move to new counties. Cobb was the fourth-highest run scorer in the Yorkshire Bank 40 with 578 runs at 52.54 and Eckersley defied Leicestershire's awful County Championship season with 1,275 runs at 53.12.
