Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh have been denied permission by the Indian board to play in a charity match in memory of Ben Hollioake, who died in a car crash in 2002. A Reuters report quoted a BCCI official as saying: "Kaif and Yuvraj were invited to play but we asked them not to participate because we normally don't encourage these types of games. There are several benefit matches for Indian players pending and so it's not logical for them to be playing away from their country in a charity game." According to the ICC rules, players can participate in charity games only if their boards allow them to.
Kaif and Yuvraj played in the English county championship this season, and were expected to join players from Pakistan in an Asian line-up which will take on a Rest of the World team at Arundel on August 9. The proceeds from the match will go to the Ben Hollioake Memorial Trust.
