Simon Katich, the Australian middle-order batsman, has been named as the captain of the New South Wales side for the forthcoming ING and Pura Cup matches against South Australia.

Katich injured a finger in Australia's Super Test win yesterday but has taken his place in the line-up for Sunday's ING Cup clash at Bankstown Oval. His Test team-mates Michael Clarke, Brett Lee, Stuart MacGill, and Glenn McGrath have all been named in the squad. The Supesub to be named morning of the match.

Katich suffered a low grade fracture to the little finger on his left hand on the final day of the Test. He was struck by a powerful pull from Andrew Flintoff in the over before lunch. Katich suffered a poor match with the bat making 0 and 2 and was supposed to have his fitness reviewed during the week.

The Test players will also be available for the Pura Cup match against South Australia starting on October 25th at the SCG.
