Kent push for third win in a row

For the latest round of County Championship matches, many counties should be strengthened by the return of their members of England's one-day squad, who fly home from the Caribbean tonight.

Kent v Gloucestershire at Canterbury

Kent have already won their opening two matches of the season, and their prospects of a third victory have been boosted by the arrival of Andrew Symonds, and the return of Mohammad Sami, who sat out the C&G Trophy match against Berkshire. Jack Russell remains unavailable for Gloucestershire, so Steve Adshead continues behind the stumps.

Middlesex v Lancashire at Lord's

Lance Klusener will play his first game of Championship cricket for Middlesex, as Lancashire come to Lord's. Middlesex could be further lifted by the return of their captain, Andrew Strauss, although he may yet be rested after his exertions in the Caribbean. Lancashire have called Steven Crook into their squad, at the expense of Alec Swann.

Northamptonshire v Sussex at Northampton

As soon as he touches down from the West Indies, James Kirtley intends to jump straight from the plane into Sussex's team, after being named in a 13-man squad for their game at Northants. The South African batsman, Martin van Jaarsveld, is set to start his first Championship match for Northants, at the expense of Tom Huggins, while Carl Greenidge is pushing for a place ahead of the offspinner Jason Brown.

Hampshire v Derbyshire at The Rose Bowl

With Shane Warne leading by example, Hampshire are on a roll as Derbyshire travel down to Southampton. They will, however, be missing John Crawley, who is likely to be missing for a month after undergoing knee surgery. Derbyshire are set to give a debut to their Australian allrounder, Jon Moss, but Kevin Dean will miss out because of a knee injury.

Durham v Essex at Chester-le-Street

Durham are still reeling from the news that Herschelle Gibbs will not be joining them this summer, and with Shoaib Akhtar still in Pakistan, they are set to give a debut to his fellow countryman, Tahir Mughal. And a familiar name has been drafted back into action: Vince Wells may play, despite retiring from first-class cricket last summer.

Nottinghamshire v Glamorgan at Trent Bridge

Simon Jones has been named in a 12-man squad, and is expected to start after coming through last week's match against Cardiff UCCE without any problems. He may be playing against his England team-mate Chris Read, who hopes to get permission to join the match late. David Alleyne is on standby.
