2005-06 HKCA Saturday League

Round six of the 2005-06 HKCA Saturday League was played in fine and warm weather conditions on 8th October 2005.

At PTS, Khalid Khan took no mercy on the Mainlanders as he claimed six wickets for only sevens runs in 5.3 overs. Set a target of 195 for victory, the Mainlanders' batsmen were unable to cope with the left-armer's pace and accuracy as they were bowled out for just 60 runs. For Police, Kieran Hale scored 56 runs whilst Zafaran Ali claimed 4-28 for the Mainlanders.

Luke Rewaga claimed 5-30 as Nomads beat Kai Tak by 5 wickets at the Hong Kong Cricket Club. Malcolm Brown was the chief contributor for Kai Tak with 55 runs as the pilots were dismissed for 158. Nomads reached their target for the loss of five wickets in the 23rd over.

Closest match of the day was played at Mission Road where LSW Warriors defeated Lamma by 15 runs. Batting first, the Warriors were restricted to 146-8 off 32 overs. In reply, Lamma were dismissed for 131 in the 30th over, with Jawaid Iqbal claiming five wickets and Munir Dar four.

The Hong Kong Under-19's may have felt a little aggrieved after losing their match at Po Kong Village Road against Tartars on run-rate calculations. Having set Tartars a target of 160 for victory, the game was finely balanced with Tartars on 144-8 when the umpires called an end to the day's play with 30 overs of the second innings bowled. For the second week in a row, Tartars were declared the winners on account of their superior run-rate. For the Hong Kong Under 19's, skipper Courtney Kruger scored 61 while Robbie Bacon hit 42 not out.

In the other match at Po Kong Kong Village, KCC's Saracens were soundly beaten by seven wickets by SubCont. Batting first, Saracens were skittled for 117 with Neeraj Chopra claiming 6-37. In reply, SubCont eased to victory in the 24th over with Rahul Shambus undefeated on 48.

The biggest win of the round was achieved by HKU who thrashed Gap Ramblers by nine wickets at the Sandy Bay ground. Tahir Khan wrecked the Gap Ramblers batting with figures of 4-27. Khalid Qureshi (51) and Martin Sabine (44 not out) wasted no time in chasing down the target of 126, which they reached in the 16th over.

2005-06 HKCA Sunday League

With Hong Kong's top players away on national duties in Singapore, only one match in the Sunday League was played at PKVR, where Pakistan Association walloped Millennium by 161 runs. Pakistan Association posted an imposing 298-5 from there 50 overs, with Butt Hussain scoring 135 and Rizwan Satter 74. Mohammed Javed was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 4-36. In reply, Millennium were dismissed for 137, with Rizwan claiming three wickets to cap a good all-round performance.

2005-06 HKCA Women's League

Lamma took on HKCC Cavaliers at the PKVR2 ground in the third match of the HKCA Women's League. The Cavaliers could only manage a score of 65 with R Howard claiming three wickets. In reply, Lamma lost six wickets as they reached their target in the 15th over, with K Knott scoring 23 and G Baker claiming four wickets for the Cavaliers.
